Happy #13 Riley

April 3rd 1998 was one of the most exciting days of Aaron and my life. Shortly after arriving at the Starlight Dance studio for my last day of work before maternity leave. My water broke and I new our first child was on his/her way. This of course caused a lot of excitement at the studio. Since I had dropped Aaron off at his work and had our only car, I quickly called him and told him I would be coming to pick him up. This caused a big uproar with both our coworkers because no one thought I should be driving. Arrangements were made, and someone dropped Aaron off at my work so he could drive me home to pack a bag, and then to the hospital to welcome our baby. We didn't know if Riley was a girl or a boy. She was too modest during the ultra sound, and kept her legs crossed the whole time. It really was fun to be surprised. I wasn't having any labor pains or anything when we got to the hospital, so they started me on pitosin. We were so excited and nervous. Our families were super excited for us also, and kept calling to check on us all night long. Shortly after 3:00 am. Riley was born. She was so cute and we thought she was perfect. I was very excited to have a little girl. I remember Aaron telling my mom after she asked him what Riley looked like, that she had a "really big cone head." She told him not to worry, it would get better. What a great time that was. Today Riley turned 13. How can that be? Do I really have a teenager? Riley has been such a joy. She is a good big sister, and a great daughter. I'm so glad she is ours. Happy Birthday Sweetie! Riley started off her day by opening her presents. Riley got a new back pack to hike the Zions Narrows again this summer. She was totally stoked!
I think she is most excited about her new Ipod touch.

We had a nice relaxing day since it was conference Sunday. It was nice to be together, and Riley really enjoyed figuring out her new gadget.

We tried a new dessert. Chocolate peanut butter cupcakes. They were really yummy! You definitely needed a glass of milk to wash them down though.

  2. I can't believe how grown up she is. I still picture Riley as a cute little 3yr old on the beach.

The cupcakes look so yummy! You'll have to share the recipe.
